Grenada is an island nation at the southern end of the Windward Islands, north
of Trinidad and Tobago, and its first-level map has seven pieces: six parishes
on the main island, each named for a saint, and the dependency of Carriacou and
Petite Martinique, out in the Grenadines to the north-east. Not to be confused
with Granada, the city in Spain.

What you are looking at
The six parishes of the main island and the dependency, named as Grenada names
them. The island is a few tens of kilometres long and runs north to south, so
the parishes are slices of it: Saint Patrick, Saint Andrew and Saint Mark in the
north, and Saint John, Saint George and Saint David below them. The dependency
is a separate piece of the map, two small islands that count as one answer.
The groups are not an official classification. They are the northern parishes,
the southern parishes and the dependency, a way to learn the map a piece at a
time.
How to place one
- Start with the dependency. It is the only answer that is not on the main
island, so it is the one you cannot get wrong by looking at the wrong side of
a border.
- Split the island at its waist. The southern parishes are the ones around
the capital and the south coast, and the northern ones are the ones beyond
the central mountains.
- Then the coasts. Saint John and Saint Mark share the Caribbean side of
the island, and Saint Andrew fills most of the Atlantic side.

Worked examples
Saint GeorgeThe capitalSaint George holds St. George's, the capital, on the south-west coast, with
its horseshoe harbour and the beaches of Grand Anse.
Saint AndrewThe eastSaint Andrew is the largest parish, a broad stretch of the Atlantic side of
the island, with Grenville, the second town, on its coast.
Saint MarkThe smallestSaint Mark is the smallest of the six, a small parish on the Caribbean coast
between Saint John and Saint Patrick, and the one most often missed.
Frequently asked questions
How many parishes does Grenada have?
Six, on the main island. Carriacou and Petite Martinique are a dependency rather than a parish, and the game counts them as a seventh answer.
Does Grenada group its parishes?
Not officially. The groups here are the northern parishes, the southern parishes and the dependency, and they are only a way to learn the map.
Is Grenada the same as Granada?
No. Grenada is an island nation in the Caribbean, while Granada is a city in southern Spain.
