The district is the second tier of Laos, between the 17 provinces and the villages, and the unit that its statistics and its roads are given in. There are 148 of them, from the nine small districts of Vientiane Capital to the huge, empty ones of the Annamite Range.
The districts of Laos. Most are named for their main town, and the name of the town and of the district are often the same word. A few names occur twice, in different provinces, so those carry their province in brackets: Phonthong, Viengkham and Xaysetha.
The districts are very uneven. Chanthabuly and Sisattanak in Vientiane Capital, Pakse in Champasak and Viengkham in Vientiane Province are small enough to need a tap area on the map, so zooming in is the way to reach them. At the other extreme, the mountain districts of the north and the east cover a great deal of sparsely-settled land.
The groups are the provinces, so the game lets you drill them one at a time. Each province answers under the same name in Laos Provinces.
