Peru's regions are large enough that the name of one narrows a round down to
the size of a European country, and no more. The province is the tier that
fixes a town: 196 of them, each a few hundred to a few thousand square
kilometres on the coast and the Andes and enormous in the jungle, and each with
the name of its own capital in most cases, which is how Peruvians say where
they are from.
The map has all 196 provinces. Each belongs to exactly one of the 26
first-level units, which are the groups here, so the regions game is the place
to start and this one is the same map at full resolution. Callao and Lima
Province are each a single province and a group of one.
Names repeat. Several provinces share the name of their region, such as Cusco,
Piura and Ica, and Lima is both a region and a province of its own, so the game
tells them apart by where they are.
A few provinces are small enough on the map that their tap area is widened
beyond their shape, and Callao is the smallest of them.
