Under the 19 regions of Mali and Bamako sit 160 cercles, from the 360 square kilometres of Sangha on the Bandiagara escarpment to Taoudenni, in the far north, which is about the size of Greece. This is the full list, grouped by the region each one belongs to.
The cercles of Mali, the second tier of the country. Under the 2023 reform they number 160, where the old map had 49, so a list from an older source is mostly a different set of names. Most take the name of their chief town, which is also how people name them, so Kayes, Sikasso and Mopti are a cercle and a town at once.
The cercles are very uneven. The south is carved fine, with Gao alone holding sixteen, Ségou eleven and Bougouni ten, while in the north a handful of huge cercles cover the Sahara. Bamako is a cercle of its own too, the capital district, and with a few other small ones it has a tap area on the map.
The groups are the regions, so the game lets you drill them one at a time. Each region answers under the same name in Mali Regions.
Taoudenni is the largest answer on the map, the main part of Taoudenni region in the far north, close to 140,000 square kilometres of desert and salt flats, with a salt mining town in the middle.
Sangha is a cercle on the Bandiagara escarpment, in Dogon country, and the smallest one on the map at about 360 square kilometres. It is small enough to need a tap area.
Djenné is a cercle of Mopti region, round the island town with the great mud mosque, and one of the oldest places in the country.

The 2023 reform made nine new regions and took the cercles from 49 to 160. Natural Earth and geoBoundaries still draw the older list.
The file spells it with a stray space, and gives Inlamawane an alternative name in brackets. The game uses the plain ones.
