Mali is the second largest country in West Africa, after Niger, a long fan of land from the wet savanna of the south, across the Niger and the Sahel, to the empty desert of the far north, where Taoudenni alone is bigger than the whole of the United Kingdom. The map was redrawn in 2023, when the ten regions became 19 and the cercles beneath them went from 49 to 160, so an older atlas is wrong in a way a round can punish. These two quizzes cut the same map two ways: the 19 regions and Bamako to learn first, and the 160 cercles for when that stops being difficult. The regions are grouped by the regions the country had before the reform, so a player who learned the old map finds each new name where its parent was, and the cercles are grouped by region, so what you learn on one carries to the other.
