Mauritania is mostly desert, a country the size of Egypt where most of the people live in a strip along the Senegal river, on the coast at Nouakchott, or in the oases of the Adrar, and the rest is dunes and an iron ore railway. These two quizzes cut the same map two ways: the 15 regions to learn first, and the 63 departments (moughataas) beneath them for when that stops being difficult. The regions are grouped by where they sit (the north, the centre, the east, the river valley and the capital), and the departments by region, so what you learn on one carries to the other.
